Post Thanksgiving Update

When we last left you, we were feasting on Thanksgiving dinner(s). The Wednesday after Thanksgiving, we went to dinner with some people that I used to work with at Perceptive. Mike Morrell was working in London, so we met up with him and Phil Sena, who was over here conducting a training class. We went to a bar called "Cheers" (yes, named after the TV show). It was good to see them.

Friday night of that week, we tried another Mexican restaurant with some friends. This one was called Mestizo. Again, it was decent, but not quite home Mexican. The margaritas were delicious though! Then we went to a nearby pub and called it an early night.

On Saturday Dec. 6th we went to "Pikkujoulut" which means Little Christmas in Finnish; our Finnish friends Anna and Tommy hosted the party at their flat. They made Glögi (pronounced Glugg)--which is similar to mulled wine, traditional Finnish treats, and even tested us on our knowledge of Finland. Lastly, there was an appearance from Santa and he passed out presents for everyone. See a link to the full album on the right.

The next day, we went out and bought some Christmas decorations. They are pretty lame. Some garland and some lights. BUT, we did buy a live Christmas tree. Ok, it's also lame because it is about 18 inches tall. I brought our stockings from the states so we hung those up as well. Despite their kind of lameness, all of these little decorations make me very happy.

On Monday, December 8th IT arrived. The car, the Audi A3, that Eric had specially made for himself because that's the way his company's lease "scheme" works. He better enjoy this cause its the only time in his life that we are getting a special order/made for him car! The funniest thing about the car is that he ordered a sunroof, which he might be able to use for about 3 days in July if it does not rain!!! LOL. I think that upon ordering he didn't realize that we live in London and not Kansas anymore.

So that day, Eric went to return his 3 month car rental to Avis in Reading, only to find out that the Reading Avis branch (a trailer really--not even double wide) that he "hired" it from had closed. And of course they didn't call him to to say they were closing. Surprise, Surprise. So he had to take it back to Heathrow, which was a huge debacle that took about 3 hours. Goodbye Peugeot 308, it was a good ride.

I am still on the hunt for job, but have decided to postpone the search until we get back from the States. It's been a slow process, and not quite as rewarding as I would have hoped.
Sorry, things with us haven't been super exciting lately, I think we are just anticipating our trip home, however this brings us to our trip to Portugal, which deserves it's own post!

oh, p.s. - Eric's brother landed himself "gainful employment" as he called it. He has been in school for the last several years completing his Masters and Doctoral programs. We are really excited for him. Congrats Justin!!

A lot of them are British artists, but some are American or other that are popular here. And you may have heard a few of them in the states.
