As we forewarned, there has been a little bit of a delay in getting internet (and TV--tragic, I know) set up at our new flat, and that is why it has been so long since we last posted. But otherwise, our flat is great so far. Here is a short update of what we've been up to.
We have officially unpacked everything that we shipped and brought with us over to the UK. And as expected, it definitely does not all fit in our flat. Did we mention that we have a whopping 432 square feet? Two of the items we were most worried about fitting were our two large suitcases...because 1) they are big, and 2) we can't exactly throw them away. So the flat we decided on has the benefit of decent living space (yes, decent living space--for London--in a 432 sq ft apartment), but it has the drawback of not a lot of storage/closet space. However, when we saw how our two big suitcases fit like a glove in the closet, we knew it was meant to be. (And don't worry, there are smaller suitcases inside each of these.)
Luckily, pretty much all the essentials did fit in our flat. The items that don't fit are mostly plastic storage containers that we put clothes in to ship over. Oh, and our ice cube bin doesn't fit in the freezer of our dorm-size refrigerator (seriously). To have somewhere to put all of our clothes (way more than we need or will fit in our 3 quart washing machine), we had to make another trip to Ikea to buy a dresser. Again, this was a self-assembly item, and by far the biggest project yet, but atleast it DID have instructions in the box at least.
We're road-tripping to Wales tomorrow morning for the weekend so we'll let you know how that goes when we get back!
